How the figures are built

Every number on this site comes from an official publication read on October 22, 2026, through a data file that the calculators and the pages read. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

The AFQT

The AFQT composite is AR + MK + 2 × VE, each a rounded standard score, as defined in section 2.4 of the 1997 score scale report (Segall, DMDC Technical Report 2004-002). The percentile is read in table 2.5 of the same report, which the site loads row by row. The category comes from the ranges published by Official ASVAB.

AFQT percentile for every sum AR + MK + 2VE (table 2.5). 109 means 109 or less, 269 means 269 or more.

Service composites

  • Air Force: M = AR + MC + AS + 2VE, A = MK + VE, G = AR + VE, E = GS + AR + MK + EI, each converted with tables C.1 to C.4 (exact).
  • Marine Corps: MM = Rnd(0.588215 × (AR + MC + EI + AS) - 17.645724), GT = Rnd(0.755294 × (AR + MC + VE) - 13.289535), EL = Rnd(0.577992 × (GS + AR + MK + EI) - 15.599795), CL = Rnd(1.092264 × (MK + VE) - 9.232992), section 2.5.2 (exact).
  • Army GT = Rnd(1.074292 × (AR + VE) - 7.443781), section 2.5.3 (exact). The nine other Army composites use the weights of table 2.7 and are labeled as estimates, since the Army may have revised them after 2004.
  • Navy: plain sums of standard scores (section 2.5.4); the subtests of each rating are chosen by the reader.
  • VE from WK and PC: formula (2.3) of the report for the reference form 04D, an estimate within about one point.
  • Share of youths above a standard score: normal curve with mean 50 and standard deviation 10, an estimate.

Branch minimums and rules

Read on October 22, 2026: goarmy.com (31), airforce.com (31, 50 with a GED), marines.com (31, 50 with a GED), gocoastguard.com (32), spaceforce.com (no number). navy.com answered HTTP 403 to automated reading: no Navy figure is published. Retest, PiCAT and validity rules: retest policy, PiCAT page, applicant FAQs. Test length: fact sheet. Category IV cap and the 31 floor without a diploma: 10 U.S.C. § 520. Air Force careers: airforce.com careers listing, 118 enlisted careers.

Practice questions

The 80 practice questions, ten per subtest, were written by Radif Partners for this site. They are not ASVAB items, they are not calibrated, and a share of right answers does not convert into a standard score or an AFQT.

Updates and checks

A script re-reads the Air Force careers listing and checks the branch and Official ASVAB pages every week; a change is reviewed before it reaches the site. Automated tests check the table readings (a sum of 202 gives 50, 183 gives 31), the composite formulas, the branch minimums and the retest dates before each release.

Limits

The site converts scores you already have; it cannot know your scores before a test. Composites marked as estimates can differ from a printout by a few points. Job minimums for Army, Navy and Marine Corps specialties are not published, because their current lists could not be read. The printout of your test and your recruiter prevail.
